Saint Matthew mug

This Saint Matthew mug can be a gift for a Matthew or someone with a special connection to his feast. The painting and name on the reverse dedicate the design to the apostle and evangelist. Accompany it with a few words about a parish, a Gospel reading or a person with whom you share devotion to him.

Saint Matthew in a painting of the apostle

The image depicts the saint as a young man with brown hair and a grey mantle, holding a halberd and looking down. This composition may appeal to someone who appreciates painted representations of the apostles. His figure lets you dedicate the gift to his name and explain the memory or celebration you had in mind when choosing it.

Matthew is one of the Twelve and is also venerated as an evangelist in tradition. His memory is particularly linked with the account of the tax collector who responds to Jesus’ call. The meal that follows, shared with other tax collectors, forms part of a scene that Christian tradition connects with mercy and the possibility of a new life. This background helps you dedicate the gift to someone familiar with those passages or who shares their reading with you.
