Saint Peter Damian mug
The Saint Peter Damian mug is a gift for someone who appreciates monastic tradition, the study of faith or the memory of this Doctor of the Church. The painting presents him writing, an image that connects with a life shaped by letters, treatises and service to different communities.
Saint Peter Damian mug: from retreat to the life of the Church
Peter Damian was born in Ravenna and received an education that also took him to Faenza and Parma. After teaching, he entered the hermit community of Fonte Avellana. There he was elected prior and worked to organise a life dedicated to prayer, study and charity among the brothers.
Retreat coexisted with many responsibilities outside the monastery. As Cardinal Bishop of Ostia, he received mediation missions and took part in the Church reform of the eleventh century. His writings reflect both an interest in the life of hermits and attention to the problems of his time. This combination can give meaning to a gift for someone who studies or shares his spirituality.
