Saint Adrian Mug
The Saint Adrian mug remembers a martyr whose story began with a journey to help imprisoned Christians. It can be a gift for someone named Adrian or Adrián, or for a person who finds a way to approach their faith through testimonies from the early centuries. The Byzantine miniature places his memory within an ancient artistic tradition.
Saint Adrian mug, remembering Caesarea
Adrian travelled from Batanea to Caesarea in Palestine with Eubulus. Both wished to visit Christians imprisoned during Diocletian's persecution. The account preserved by Eusebius of Caesarea connects their arrest with that visit and places Adrian's martyrdom in the year 309. Their journey provides the setting for the story remembered by the design.
The chosen painting comes from the Menologion of Basil II and depicts the martyrdom of Adrian and Eubulus. It is a shared scene, while this mug is dedicated to Saint Adrian and his commemoration on 5 March. This connection between the two companions lets you tell the story behind the gift while keeping their individual identities clear.
