Its design is dedicated to the saint known as the Pilgrim, whose memory is celebrated on 7 February. The image and reverse bring together his name and a reference to Lucca, the city connected with his story.

Remembering a father on pilgrimage

Richard's tradition preserves the story of an English father who travelled towards Rome with his children and died in Lucca. His memory is connected with Willibald, Wunibald and Walburga. The account of that pilgrimage forms part of the history of a family linked to the spread of Christianity in Europe.

If you are giving the Saint Richard mug, you can accompany it with a few words about a journey you shared, a family devotion or the meaning of bearing his name.
