taza-san-juan-de-brito
Saint John de Britto mug

The Saint John de Britto mug can be a gift for someone who shares his devotion or is interested in the history of Jesuit missions. The saint's image and the details on the reverse connect Lisbon with Oriur, the places that frame his life. You can choose it for a name day greeting on 4 February or to recall an important religious reference for that person.

From Lisbon to a mission in the East

John de Britto was born in Lisbon on 1 March 1647. He was educated by the Jesuits and entered the Society of Jesus in 1662. He studied in Évora and Coimbra, worked as a teacher and, after being ordained a priest, left for missions in the East in 1673.

This path of education and mission gives context to the Saint John de Britto mug. If you are giving it to someone connected with Ignatian spirituality or interested in missionaries, a few words about your reason for choosing it can accompany the gift. The image preserves a specific reference to the saint, and his name makes it possible to recognise whom the design honours.

The devotional image and milestones of his memory

The chosen representation shows him in a white cloak and red cap, holding a crucifix beside a palm. The reverse gives his birth in Lisbon, his death in Oriur in 1693, his beatification on 21 August 1853 and his canonisation on 22 June 1947. The 4 February commemoration completes the text.

In the 3D viewer, you can examine the devotional image and read the composition. The ‘Both sides’ option displays two opposing views of the same design and keeps the rotation available. You can select a right-handed or left-handed orientation; the number of mugs you want to receive is chosen separately.

We prepare the Saint John de Britto mug using sublimation printing. The image and details are already arranged so you can check your choice before buying. Choose the printed text language in the customiser and check it in the preview.
