His activity connected different territories and extended its influence through his communities and writings. This context gives meaning to a gift for someone interested in the cultural and religious exchanges of medieval Europe.

Leinster and Bobbio on the reverse

The Saint Columbanus mug carries the name «Saint Columbanus of Luxeuil and Bobbio», Leinster as his birthplace and Bobbio as his place of death. The commemoration on 23 November completes the text. These details identify the monk and distinguish him from Columba of Iona, another figure of Irish tradition.
