Its painting shows Mary handing the Child to Simeon, while the reverse gives the name of the feast and its 2 February commemoration. It is a gift for someone who feels close to this Gospel scene or shares its celebration with you.

Jesus' encounter with Simeon

The feast recalls Jesus arriving at the Temple in Jerusalem, brought by Mary and Joseph forty days after his birth. The Gospel account presents Simeon receiving the Child and recognising in him the awaited salvation. Anna also appears, praising God and speaking about the Child to those who were waiting for redemption.

The chosen painting focuses on the handing over of the Child, wrapped in swaddling clothes, from Mary's arms to Simeon's. You can give it to someone with whom you share a reading of this passage or a memory of a February celebration.

A specific feast on the reverse

The other side features the name of the Presentation of the Lord and its 2 February commemoration.
